Re-Elect · Maui Trustee · Office of Hawaiian Affairs
14 Years of Service. A Lifetime of Kuleana.
A Statement of Purpose
"I have stood on the mountain. I have sat at the table. And I will never stop fighting for our people — from keiki to kūpuna."
For over 14 years, I have served as your Trustee at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs — appointed by Governor Neil Abercrombie, elected by the people, and accountable to our lāhui every single day. I have not watched from the sidelines. I have been in the room, at the table, and on the front lines.
I fought to raise the Public Land Trust revenue cap from $15.1 million to $21.5 million — securing $6.4 million more for Native Hawaiians every year. I helped deliver $5 million to the families devastated by the Lahaina wildfire. And when Mauna Kea was threatened, I stood with our kūpuna and accepted arrest rather than allow the desecration of our most sacred mountain.
This is not a campaign. It is a continuation of a lifetime of service. Please re-elect Trustee Hulu Lindsey as your Maui Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

Candidate, Office of Hawaiian Affairs
About Hulu
Carmen "Hulu" Lindsey has served as a Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs since 2012, bringing more than 14 years of leadership and advocacy on behalf of the people of Hawaiʻi. Appointed by the Governor to fill a vacancy, she quickly earned recognition as one of OHA's most passionate and effective voices for Native Hawaiian rights and community well-being.
A licensed real estate agent for more than 30 years, Trustee Lindsey has fought hard to help local families achieve homeownership while advocating for Hawaiians' fair share of public land trust resources. She understands that a home is not just property — it is stability, dignity, and a foundation for future generations.
As Chairperson of the Board of Trustees from 2021 to 2024, she led OHA through some of its most defining moments — including the fight to protect Mauna Kea, where she stood alongside fellow kūpuna and accepted arrest rather than allow the desecration of Hawaiʻi's most sacred mountain.
Today, Trustee Lindsey continues to support initiatives and legislation that uplift the people of Hawaiʻi — from keiki to kūpuna. She is running to continue that work as your Maui Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

Led the OHA Board as Chairperson for three years, steering the organization through some of its most consequential decisions for Native Hawaiian rights and community well-being.
As Chairperson, fought to protect the sacred summit of Mauna Kea from desecration — and stood on the front lines alongside fellow kūpuna, willing to be arrested in defense of our most sacred mountain.
Successfully negotiated with the State Senate Ways & Means Chair to raise the annual Public Land Trust revenue cap from $15.1 million to $21.5 million — delivering millions more in resources owed to OHA each year.
Played a key role in securing $5 million in OHA funds to support the victims and families devastated by the catastrophic 2023 Lahaina wildfire on Maui.
